Hi, obviously it's still early, but it's not too early to think about which teachers would write a good recommendation for me, a rec that hopefully incorporates both academic and social situations. However, do you guys have some ideas on picking the right teacher?

I have some basic ideas on who I am going to pick, but I still can't exactly decide. Also, I am probably going to use my junior teachers because they have already had me for a year.

Pick a teacher who knows you well (better if they know something about you outside of academics) and who you feel could write a personal and detailed recommendation (personal anecdotes are always good). Some schools (ex. UChicago) prefer/require teachers from different subject areas (one in math/science, one in the humanities), so keep that in mind as well.

1 from English/history teacher
1 from Science/Math teacher

Of the above ^^^
1 who knows you extremely well and has some sort of relationship with you
1 whose class you took and struggled but worked hard to overcome this and excel
