I applied ER and was deferred back in December. By what month can I expect to receive my final decision? Also, what will it say on WA if I'm accepted or rejected? Thanks!

you should hear back by mid-april

Thanks for the answer. Can someone answer my second question?

Acceptances come on WA. Rejections come in the mail.

If I get rejected, what will it say on WA?

Anyone? (10 char)

It usually says “A decision will be arriving in the mail…” It’s not necessarily a rejection though, it could be a waitlist.

So basically, if it says explicitly on WA that you’ve been excepted, that’s good, but if it is vague, then assume rejection or waitlist?

^*accepted. lol, but yes.

Ooops sorry. lol That’s what I get when I type while simultaneously watching the Olympics and doing math homework. lol Anyways, does Michigan usually have to waitlist even really qualified applicants towards the end because they have already accepted all the people they can? I just got in my counselor recommendation last week (there was a miscommunication between me and my counselor), but I think I am fairly qualified for Michigan (4.0 UW, IB student, 2240 SAT, 35 ACT, etc.) and I am wondering if I could be waitlisted just because there isn’t enough room left to accept me…

collegehappy, yes, applying late hurts your chances. Still, I would say you would get in, but you missed the deadline. I don’t you’ll even get considered since U of M makes it clear everything must be postmarked by February 1st. Hopefully I’m wrong.

@ yosup: If you read Michigan’s application, it says that Feb 1st is the “equal consideration deadline”

This means that, if you submit your application after this deadline, your chances won’t be the same as if you had submitted before Feb 1st, but you still stand a chance of admission.

So don’t worry, collegebound. You still stand a chance (and your stats are excellent!), though it is lessened in that you submitted late.

Ohh dang, I never knew that! Yeah, I think you’ll still get in then with your great stats. I dunno about scholarship money though. You definitely deserve some, but I’m sure U of M has already given away lots of money. They may be low on funds.

yosup is right on about the availability of scholarships. Unfortunately, by the time they evaluate your app, most of the merit based stuff will be gone.
