<p>When does the new application come out? The campuses are all closed at the moment and I know they have personal statements up but were those for 2011 applicants or are they going to be the same this year? </p>

<p>The personal statements are basically always the same. You can start your application October 1. You can submit it November 1-30.</p>

<p>Don’t get too attached to your personal statement draft just yet. UCs have, in the past, changed the personal statement prompts as late as the end of August. It’s fine to think about your achievements and how you can frame yourself in the best light for college admission consideration, but don’t be too shocked if the essay prompts change.</p>
<p>Yeah, I somehow cannot even manage to find the old prompts anymore! Strange. I decided to work on my common app and Michigan ones instead, since they are sure to be the same! :)</p>

I think it’s kind of funny that the first personal statement tip on the page is “start early.” If only they didn’t change the prompts so late in the game last time!</p>
