When colleges extend deadlines, does this mean they don't have enough applicants?

Hey, so I applied for spring transfer into this college (top 25). Their deadline was November 5th. Then a few days later we hear that they've extended the deadline onto November 15th. Then after that they extend right to December 4th.

Does this mean they didn't receive enough applications this year? This is a good sign right? This means the applicant pool is smaller?

interesting analysis; very curious to know which school...

When GW extended their EDI deadline, we all assumed that it was b/c they didn't receive enough apps; uh, no, that was not the case...we here on CC were wrong.....

So.....don't assume anything about the extension unless you know....

It means they want to collect more application fees.

lol maybe the financial crisis makes them think about some ways to earn $_$ from applications ;)

Something could've happened in the admissions office or at the college...a few years ago, MIT's admissions website crashed like two days before the EA deadline (nov 1) so they extended it a few days (to like nov 4 or something). But Nov5 to Nov15 to Dec4 is insane.

lol i don't know what makes GWU cost 40k tuition/year ?

Stop trying to read something into the extension. It could be due to more applications or less applications. It could be due to the tenuous economy and a desire of the school to have more ED students to add some stability and certainty to their business model. Who knows! Legend.dracula, the opportunities at GWU are incredible and especially with a new administration coming in there is a lot of excitement in Washington D.C. Lots of new jobs and internships available.
