When do acceptances start to come out?

I was going to add this to my original chances thread which seems to have disappeared. Any new takers?

Female, instate, legacy
SAT-1740-retaking one more time Oct 10
GPA-3.5 UW, 3.9 W, 8 honors/AP classes
Loads of EC's/leadership
Good recs, personal statement
interested in Kinesiology

I applied on Sept. 1. Any idea when I might hear something? (would like not to hear before Oct 29, when the SAT scores will be available)

Thanks

Slipjig your stats are identical to my son. SAT and GPA are exact. He is also a legacy (me father) with a current silbling attending.

I have done a lot of reading on this site from previous years, stats, etc. You and my son are on the bubble as I see it. You may or may not be accepted, don’t get me wrong I hope you do get in if that is what you desire.

With both of your bubble stats I don’t see a notification till January. My other child had much higher stats and was admitted prior to Thanksgiving. He had other friends who were not admitted until January and others denied.

Good Luck. What other schools are you looking at?

mrfrig45-Thanks for your reply.

At this point am applying to Penn State only. If I don’t get in at UP I will cry…and go to Altoona which I put as my second choice. I’ve looked at DeSales, Arcadia, Bloomsburg, Pitt and a few more. Nothing appeals to me like Penn State. Probably from my mom dragging me up there all these years.

I’m working hard on SAT prep and at school and will send anything new and improved that I can offer to admissions. So a January decision might benefit me.

Good luck to your son, too.

I didn’t hear of any one getting accepted before Nov. 14, and the only people that got in then were ones with really high grades and SATs that applied in August or early September. I know a lot of people had to wait until Jan. 30 though. If there are as many applications as there were last year, expect a long wait. Good luck though.

I was going through my Penn State literature, and it looks like notifications start Nov 1. So I guess it’s not worth checking until then.

last year people started hearing november 1 but they were the students with extremely high credentials…most students were admitted after november 30. i was not admitted until january 27 (i had a 3.49 gpa when i applied and i scored a 30 on my ACT)

I don’t know if you’ve actually looked at the app…but there are no recs so good imaginary recs can’t help you out at all

just an FYI

Last year my daughter got all of her materials in before Sept 1 but did not hear until early December. She did get into UP Smeal with a 4.2 weighted and 1260 SAT. Her guidance counselor did send in a recommendation for her (he really wanted her to go there).

I think those are strong stats especially the weighted gpa. I got in to engineering with a 4.0 weighted and 1540 but that was 3 years ago.
