Was I supposed to receive a financial aid package by now?

I submitted my FAFSA and CSS Profile long ago, before the deadlines, but I have not gotten any sort of email or letter about financial aid. Wolverine Access says no documents are required, and the "award summary" tab just shows one (very small) merit scholarship, but no actual financial aid.

Are we actually expected to submit a deposit without knowing if the school is a viable choice? $200 isn't that big a deal in the long-run, but I think it's a little odd to commit to a college if I don't quite know if attending is financially possible.

Is anyone else waiting for financial aid? If this is normal, when can I expect to receive a package?

Edit: Also, I was one of the lucky individuals "selected for Verification by the US Department of Education," which typically means I have to send in a few extra documents. The one other school which I am still considering sent me an email letting me know what documents I have to send, but Umich didn't. I'm also very confident that all of their emails are reaching my inbox, so that's not the problem.

I think only a call to the FA office at UM will give you the answer. We can merely speculate, which really doesn’t do you any good.

My concern is whether this is typical and I should just relax and wait, or if I should give them a call. Of the few people I know who will be attending Umich, they have all received a financial aid package.

Also, people around this forum have mentioned receiving certain amounts in grants form Umich, making me think they’ve gotten a finaid. package.

If verification is required and you have not submitted signed tax forms, etc., you will not get your fin aid package/info.
To find the fin aid forms/request, there is a link available under the 2013 award year in W/A. Go take a look.
Then file your verification – at this date preferably by fax, and call the fin aid folks directly to let them know.

@kmcmom13 The thing is, Wolverine Access says “No documents required” under the Financial Aid tab, and Umich has given me no indication (no emails, no letters, no notices of any kind) that I need to submit anything else. It won’t hurt to make a call (and I’ll do that soon), but I would think they’d at least let me know if I need to submit anything else in order to be considered for aid.

The one other school which has recently asked me for extra documents had already sent me a financial aid package, and they simply wanted the extra documents to validate the existing information and to determine whether the existing package should stand.

My D just received her financial aid package last Friday (OOS)…

I am in the same situation, however I have received NO financial aid award notices. I submitted my fafsa and cssp first week of march. I am oos and already comitted. Although I have received no financial aid award notices I wasn’t really expecting to get any so I am just waiting. Maybe you should call FA I called a different department but they were very helpful.
