I heard that envelops detailing our financial awards will come in a few weeks, so don't stress. All other accepted people I've seen, including myself, have not received their financial packages yet either.

The admission office says in about 10 days scholarship and financial aid awards will be sent out.

I got a financial aid/scholarship letter today

I got my stuff today too.
They were generous with merit-based money, but not so much need based =(

My son also received financial aid info from U of R today. The letter said he's being awarded a Rush Rhees Scholarship ($12,000/year). He was also a Bausch and Lomb winner last year - will Rochester add this on to the Rush Rhees award? There was no mention of the Bausch and Lomb award in the letter. Thanks for any input!

lotsofquestions: no, they will not add the two scholarships. the uofr policy is that they only give you the maximum award amount you won. Here is a quote from the uofr website at http://enrollment.rochester.edu/financial/undergrads/faq.shtm:

Q: If I won a corporate award, am I still eligible for other scholarships?
A: Yes, you will still be considered for other scholarships; however, students are limited to a single merit award, so students will receive the highest-valued award for which they qualify.

My d got the Wilson Trustee scholarship: $10K per year. We couldn't be more pleased.

What? Some people are already being informed about scholarships other than the Renaissance scholarship? This is really stressing me out. I haven't received anything. The lady on the phone told me that they would be sending financial information about a week to a week and a half from now..

i also received the wilson's trustee scholarship, chedva! congratulations to your daughter! does she think she is going to attend? i'm still on the fence, although that financial aid package was mightttttty nice

page47, d is still undecided, but you're right - the scholarship is sure sweet. Congratulations to you too!

My son also received his package yesterday, Thurs 3/8, which included the Bausch and Lombe.

Students accepted ED may be getting their packages before RD applicants?

Just a guess, can anyone verify?

My son was RD - didn't seek early notification, but was gratified.

Same here - my d applied RD, and was surprised (and gratified) at the early notification.

From U of R Admissions:
Thank you for your interest in the University of Rochester. Financial aid notification letters are currently being sent about seven to ten days following the admission decision. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

lotsofquestions- is 12,000 the revised amount of the rush rhees scholarship (it still says 10,000 on the website)? or did your son get the additional 2,000 for being a national merit finalist?

njstudent12345 - The letter said $12,000 per year. I also went to the website and noticed it mentioned $10,000/year, so I'm guessing they increased the amount this year? My son missed the National Merit Semifinalist selection index for our state by 2 points so ended up as a Commended Student, not a semifinalist - oh well!

I was told by an admissions representative that if your child is a National Merit Finalist and he/she selects Rochester as first choice by the deadline, then the scholarship will be $15K/year. Call to confirm this.

did anybody get any acknowledgment of a potential national merit scholarship, or do they just give the finalist other scholarships
