In response to the Syracuse post, I'm just going to say that it makes no sense and is wrong. And, to fuel the fire, the original Chicago Sun-Times article actually says that those accepted will receive notification by March 20th.

So will they actually be sending us an email to notify us that decisions have been made?

they're going door-to-door

"At Northwestern, more than 25,000 high school seniors applied for the university's incoming freshman class, a more than 12 percent increase over last year and a 54 percent jump over the last three years.

The 5,800 seniors accepted to the Class of 2012 will receive their letters by March 20, said Mike Mills, associate provost for undergraduate enrollment. The class size is expected to be 2,025 students."

I don't really care about the date much anymore.. I just want to know why they're being so sketch about it. just tell us when and how we will be notified, like every other university.

Letters? Does that imply that Northwestern is going to mail them? Wow...exciting.

Well, that article is from January so they might've changed it already (hopefully not). But it does seem plausible, since Syracuse sent letters out march 14, MIT gave decisions the 15th, Wellesley's online decisions come out the 21, Cal's decisions are the 27th, etc.

You guys should have seen the U-Miami admission decision frenzy for EA. They were worse, keeping students anxious for days and posting decisions on the website over the span of two WEEKS. Imagine waiting for a week and a half, not having notification and thinking that you're rejected at that point. It was madness. Fortunately, I was in the first round of decisions posted over those two weeks. :)

My D got in ED to Northwestern this year. She received a congratulatory letter on her Applicant Services page. There was an e-mail sent (probably at the same time her page was changed) that told her that a letter had been sent but that she should check her Applicant Services page. We got the actual hard copy of the letter the next day (or two days later) in the mail. Don't know if they are doing the same thing for RD and I don't know what this means regarding the presumed March 20 date! Good luck!

omg...march 20 is in almost 2 days...eeeek!

so is the March 20th date confirmed or is it still hearsay?

I'm trying to work on an Admin officer that I befriended. It could take a bit, and by then it could be too late. But I will try to get an answer. She's really nice and likes me, soo maybe.

hahahaa nice..work your magic man....

They say on their website we'll have them BY April 15th... they'll probably start coming the last week in March, they just wanted to cover themselves up til mid-April... grrr...

It's like saying, "We can be 100% sure that it will be between negative forty and two hundred degrees out today!"

^ ROFL! :D That would make a nice weather report

Aw crap. That's in two days. I'm probably not getting in.

That's the attitude!

So are these being sent on march 20th or are we slated to GET them on the 20th? if we get them in two days im gonna exploode

I just got off the phone with the admissions office at Northwestern, there is still no official date when they are going to release the regular decision notifications. I was told that they will send an email when your online status is updated and then you can find out via there website but that's as much as they will give at this point.

fritz90, thanks for the info!
omg, i'm sooo nervous now...
