When do we hear back?

If you have already filled out your FAFSA and received your EFC, when will we begin to hear back from the colleges that we sent the FAFSA report? Assuming of course that we have been accepted to all of them and filled out whatever financial forms each requires. Anybody have some idea of when we might start getting some response from the FA people at "our" colleges? Just trying to get a time line for decision making.

I was also wondering if the financial aid offices notify you that they have received the electronic FAFSA?

We got verification from FAFSA that they have been sent to our schools but I was wondering if I should check each school individually just to make sure?

I have seen some schools send an acceptance letter & financial aid package together, typically around end of March.

I have also seen an acceptance letter arrive & a few weeks later a financial aid package. For regular decision you should have both acceptance & financial package by the end of March, unless the school is “rolling” and you might get it sooner.

Sometimes they will not send out a final financial aid package until you have submitted your tax returns. One year one of my kids had a FA package revised 4 times as things kept getting changed around! It all depends on the school & its policies.

My daughter’s first year of college we did not find out even a preliminary aid package until around march. As slumom says, it depends on the school.
