Hey - those of you that got it, when were your interviews?

Want to hear back!!!

yea can those who got it please answer "Indian"s questions???!!! thanks

I didn’t get an email either.

Looks like i’m 0 for 3 as far as scholarships are concerned (regents, national merit, alumni). My wallet is very unhappy with me.

The Santa Barbara County Interviews were on the April 20th;it was very structured with I beleive interviews running every ten minutes. Did you guys have a panel of interviewers as well, or was it more informal?

I was given $750, and was placed on an alternate waiting list.

Bay Area - telephone interview with multiple interviewers, about 20 minutes long.

i am also bay area and had a 20 min phone interview on the 24th (past thursday)…
BUT NO EMAIL YET!!! w t f !!!

@santa - don’t worry, many in bay area are still going through phone interviews. Since it’s based on alum. district, they will probably decide bay area ones after most interviews are done.

k im kinda relieved now…but still…i hate waiting…wayy too much of it these past couple of months…i think you all know what im talking about

Does anyone know about the non monetary benefits of the alumni scholarship? Particularly the networking group, the CAA or something like that. Anyone have experience with it?

Shah Rukh Khan:

so you were in SB county and got your email already? do you know of any other SB county people who have received it? (i’m in SB county too and haven’t heard anything. meh)

I’m a San Franciscan and I had my interview with the other San Francisco kids on the 20th; they said they’d let us next week, as the interviewers and the director said that they had to score and nominate everyone “this week” (21th-25th, I assume).

i’m from the bay area and got my email three days after my in-person interview. but the weird thing is, i know some people who were interviewed in the same group that i was that haven’t gotten their emails yet

soo weird…but the e-mail said that by the 28th we will all know…so lets hope so

Rofflez

I know that one of my friends hasn’t received the email yet and I know another who received the email but didn’t get it.

This is what they say on their site of the benefits:

"What other benefits are available to Alumni Scholars besides the scholarship money?

In addition to the monetary side of the scholarship, Alumni Scholars receive a number of other great benefits. You will receive an Alumni Scholarship membership card which will save you 20% on all purchases at the Cal student store, exluding textbooks, and will also save you $375 on a Kaplan test preparation course.

You will also be immediately plugged into the CAA Student Service resources. As an alumni scholar, we will immediately give you opportunities to interact with the leaders of the Cal campus. You will be the first to hear about upcoming events such as career networking, mentorship and leadership development opportunities."

o so they do send out e-mails if you did not get it…
well im still waiting for an e-mail…w t f

thank you for the response, Shah Rukh Khan.

250 freshman are given the award
It is awarded by district, so perhaps the districts that finished early are already telling people- they don’t think about the CC gossip girls ;)

Different areas have different numbers of scholarships to award based on the sized and fund-raising in that district.

Yes, you get a discount at the bookstore, Kaplan, various other things like rental cars waiving the young driver fee.
The alumni group has some social functions and offers opportunites to get involved with alums.
The award is renewable, but 2/3/4/5th year students get about 500, so not every one will be renewed. They like to see people making a difference on campus not just studying, so if you get it, go to some alumni functions, be known, get involved on campus, get out there and have fun and be interesting

^^So we do get a discount on textbooks?

No, the discount is excluding textbooks. So you can get T-shirts and mugs and stuff. What are the alumni networking events like? Can getting this award help with admission to Haas?
