I was wondering because i was hoping to use part of my financial aid to pay for my fall dorm rent...does anyone know how this can be done if we are supposed to pay for fall semester by august 1st? Also, when do we find out what we are officially actually being given in financial aid from UF?

I'm curious to know too

You're going to get your housing assigment through a letter through the mail. On that paper it will say if you have deferment and what date you would have to pay for Fall Housing.

do you have to ask for deferrment, because i didnt. But when can you actually access the funds you received from financial aid to use them? is it when you get the letter?

Your FA will disburse some short time after the drop-add period. If you are eligible for disbursement, it will say so in your housing letter. Your funds will automatically disburse and take care of your housing after the drop-add period.

ah ok. so i dont have to worry about the august 1st due date?

If you qualify for disbursement through your financial aid, don't worry about it.

I know this thread is kind of old but it relates to what I'm asking

I recently checked ISIS and found my awards total and loans/work study programs to accept or cancel. I didn't really choose to accept or cancel seeing how my parents weren't around and I didn't want to make a decision before going it over with them.

I log on ISIS again today and I find that my total awards have gone down by about $5,000 and all my loan/work study choices are gone. Can anyone explain what's going on? My mom got pretty angry after discovering that she has to pay more because the original total awards amount had decreased by so much.

Its not your fault. Financial aid office constantly plays with you financial aid; things might go up and down. Financial aid isn't final until the money is disbursed in aug/sept. Usually there is a reason that they changed your originally reported aid (e.g you got a scholarship, EFC changed, etc). I would call on monday to see what happened.
