I was wondering if you wanted to change your major and needed time to take some prereq classes, when would you have to declare that major? Like 2nd quarter or what?

usually b4 you reach 135 units....

really? So i'll have 105 by the time i get there...and i was wondering if you can take classes for credit/no credit and whether i can change my major to sociology

That really looks like a question for a UCLA counselor IMO.

When you get there you will be under the major that you were accepted into . Your degree progress report will reflect that major status or pre major status, depending on the major you have upon acceptance.

You can take classes credit no credit as long as they are not prequisites for your major or major classes. So yes you can take classes for a semester than change to sociology.

Sociology is impacted and assist. org does state that you should be accepted as pre-sociology in order to major in sociology.

So , this means that you will actually have to get deans approval to major in sociology. Your first quarter there you should go visit the sociology department and talk to them about changing to sociology, you should be prepared, have compelling reasons, etc. If they say no, try again later on in the quarter, or ask them what else you can do etc. Basically be prepared for them to say no but try anyways.

what are examples of compelling reasons

BIG BOOBS

10char

yep worked for me

lol

You can try declaring double with your current major and then drop the current major and keep sociology. I have not done this and can not attest to it working but it should.
