I just recently found Pitt after applying to all my colleges via the Common App. I want to apply to the business school but probably won't be able to have my app turned in until early to mid February since they don't take the common app. Do you think that would be too late? Also how does rolling admissions work? When do you have to make a decision if you want to attend or not by? I heard it was 3 weeks after they sent you a decision but most of my college decisions won't be here till April.

IIRC there is nothing different about Pitt’s app and the CommonApp except that it’s on Pitt’s own website. When I applied I just attached my CommonApp essay as the supplemental essay and called it a day. The only thing I could see taking a while is mailing in your test scores & Transcript and sending in LOR (which I don’t see taking 5 weeks. I could be wrong).

Rolling admissions means that Pitt can accept applications very early (Summer of 2012 for kids applying in fall of 2013) and send out acceptances very early (generally they start around early October) without the acceptance being binding (like you would see in an Early Decision). This means that there is no deadline for an application submission (most schools have one from December to January) and that they will continue to accept students until they have either met the quota or the date is too late (April I would imagine).

Just like every other school, you must decide to attend Pitt by May 1 by submitting your answer and housing deposit. HOWEVER, they have started to do a first-come-first-serve for housing where, if you submit your deposit sooner, you will have a better chance on getting your first-choice dorm.

As for hearing back, Pitt tries to make the turnaround as quick as possible. It could be as little as two weeks or as long as until April. It all depends on the strength of your application.

Thank you! I will apply as soon as possible.
