My son had his application complete by the end of August. His TU portal account says that his application is complete and awaiting decision. Just wondering if anyone knows if Temple holds decisions until December or if decisions are sent out earlier. I was looking at previous years’ posts and it was hard to tell. Thanks!
not sure, might be novermerish? might be sooner. mine applied in October and got accepted right before Thanksgiving. i can’t remember if students who applied earlier than him had already been accepted or not. does your son have high stats for what Temple is looking for, if so, he might hear sooner.
Thank you, ctl097. No, my son does not have stats on the higher end. He is around the Temple average. I will advise him to just sit tight for a while.
did he apply that early route? if it still exists? I think it was if you apply by Nov 1, you hear by Dec 15th? if so, tell him it could be mid December. I think they like to get all of those early apps in and more or less evaluate them all together to get a sense of the class coming in. give Temple a month to 6 weeks after nov 1st then is my best guess.
He did apply Early Action, which states that he will know by January 10th. He was hoping for earlier, since it is his first choice. However, he will just have to be patient. At least, he won’t have to wait until March like some schools!
yeah, too bad on 1-10 cause i think it used to be mid Dec but that was before Temple option started, he could hear sooner… that is just my best guess.
my general observation is that average stats with a noncompetitive major seem to get in. and by non-competitive, i will use my son’s major, which is media studies and production. it is one of the smaller majors and most kids who get accepted to Temple and want that major get it. other majors, like nursing, art, music majors, are very competitive.
Thanks, ctl987!
My son did not do the Temple option. He is applying as a computer science major and I am not sure where that falls in terms of the competitiveness of majors.
yeah, neither am I on that major i. i guess i meant Temple option may be slowing all apps down because they are longer so admissions overall takes more time. Still last year, the non option people generally heard sooner so maybe mid December is realistic. i;d still use Jan date and be pleasantly surprised if he hears sooner.
Just to reiterate what ct1987 said, last year my DS sent in his application in early October and was accepted on November 14. I believe that others were notified earlier - I think some heard in late October. Good luck to your son!
