hi, does anyone know when ut austin will send out admission decisions and if they will be posted online or sent by mail? thanks

I was told by someone at the admissions office that the admissions process is technically rolling, but if you submitted your application sometime in November, especially towards the end, you will hear back with most of the students by end of February. You will be notified online via the UT EID and then UT will send you an official letter via mail. Hope that answers your question!

Dependant on when you applied, automatic admission, and when you sent in your other required documents (transcripts and rank take forever and a day).

Personally, I submitted the app on the 11th, sent put everything else the 12th, got admitted to the university around the 23rd, and to my major abput 2 days later. I got my packet like the 28th I think.

Sent from my Desire HD using CC App

I posted a similar question, and most non-automatic students got their decisions around February.

I submitted my application around October 30th and I’m still waiting. :(

O man, that’s tough. However, sometimes it might take less if you have decent scores on standardized tests. That probably speeds up many non-auto-admits’ applications.

My son, an OOS student from Maryland, received his acceptance letter in the mail today. He submitted his application in October (mid-October, I believe).

This gives me hope. Instate, applied the 17th with supporting material (Letters of recommendation + resume + Essay C) arriving across the next month until the deadline. Still haven’t got anything back.

3% out of auto accept (62/498), but I’m still hopeful.

JenPam, I am a Maryland OOS as well. Would you mind sharing your son’s stats? It would be greatly appreciated!

Another hopeful OOS MD fam here, JenPam congrats to your son! XColcraz, we are waiting too, DD got her transcript sent in 11/29, right under the wire. I called admissions yesterday and was told they are 2-3wks behind in updating mystatus items. Keeping our fingers crossed-- Good luck to all.

Sure–my son’s stats:

Cum. GPA of 4.19 (on 4.0 scale) after junior year (will likely be higher after this year, but not by much).

790 Math
700 Critical Reading
740 Writing

800 SAT II Math
760 SAT II Chemistry
680 SAT II Latin: Vergil

Scores of 5 for AP Calculus BC (and 5 for Calculus AB subscore), Chemistry, Physics B, and Latin: Vergil.

Score of 4 for AP World History, and score of 3 for AP American Government/Politics.

ECs are predominantly Latin related, which looks odd when you consider he’s a computer science/math guy. I thought (still think) it might hurt him, because he has no ECs in math or similar clubs.

ECs include 4 years of Certamen (Latin competition club) and working as a writer/editor of the school’s satire newspaper; 3 years of Latin Honor Society and Pep Band; 2 years of Clarinet Choir and improv group. He’s also been studying with a private voice teacher for over 9 years.

Not a lot of volunteer hours, just what his school required (maybe 40 or so).

His computer skills include C++, Java, TI-BASIC, Adobe InDesign, Publisher, and then the basics (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Thanks so much for sharing and congrats to your son!

They are posted online and by mail. If you are top 10 percent (or top 8 now whatever) you will find out within a few weeks of when you apply. For the rest of us, I found out in late February by checking online. I also received a letter in the mail confirming my acceptance.
