When I tell ppl I goet deferred....

....they say "Im sorry! Im sure you'll find another great college"

Why is it so obvious to people that deffered ppl don't get in? As far as I know, the rd rate and deffered rate are pretty much the same.

if they wanted to take you why didnt they during the ED round?

^^ If they DIDNT want me, why didn't they get rid of me. Im sure they want to ease their load for the RD pool, so it wouldnt make sense to just leave in there and reject me in two months. It doesnt make sense to do that to me and it doesnt make sense to do it to themselves.

Do people really do that?

Everyone I tell says "Keep your head up! Deferral is not rejection!"
Haha. So that is some advice I will give you too :)

^that's bad advice...deferral is essentially a slow rejection...your chances of getting after being deferred are about 11% and you're not going to get in unless you were near the very top of those not admitted ED...but good luck anyway!

wow. this thread is pretty negative indeed.

dot510, do whatever it takes so you have no regrets at the end, whether you get in or don't.

Your chances of getting in were highest when you applied ED. It's not getting any prettier. Do yourself a favor, and find a few more schools you like. Apply to them. Get over it.

wowww, really negative. i have backups. but theyre just backups. Penn is where I want to go and thats why i applied early. I will do everyhting I can to be in that 11%.

you should realize that with fewer students using early decision because of the economy, the regular pool is likely to be even more competitive this year.

it's not that people are trying to rain on your penn parade here, but you need to prepare yourself for the very real possibility of a waitlisting or rejection in april.

good luck either way.

haha, Yale board is so much more optimistic than this (general mood there is: Yale accepted 140 less in EA=> there's 140 more spaces in RD=>We'll get in!)

thanks shadue for that site, it was very imformative nd helpful.
