Hey, I’ve been thinking…
the 12% acceptance rate isn’t all that bad if you consider that basically all the hooked applicants are gone.
The athletes they want have all been accepted.
The legacies have an extremely low rate if they are deferred.
URMs that they really wanted have all been taken during the ED round.
No developmental candidates.

Don't forget, some legacies were deferred, so not daddy is going to break the bank to get that child into Penn ;)

12% acceptance rate isnt that bad compared to other schools like Harvard which is usually less than 10%. However, you shouldn't uinderestimate any applicant. Just try your best to improve your app and try your best for other schools as well.

whats a URM?

under-represented minority

How wrong you are! Most URM's apply RD!
Also, two legacies I know in each of the two previous years were deferred ED and then admitted in the spring.
I'm afraid your theory has a lot of holes in it.

A message for dulce _______ FU CK OFF
Minorities can apply early if they want, just like you
and what is a developmental candidate.

Everybody keep those grades up for the mid year report and send your 3rd quarter grades ( ;) A hint that the nursing dean gave me )

developmental candidates are ppl they like but pretty much suck when it comes to school so they admit them with "potential".

dont ask me why, i still think its dumb

I'm not sure about this, but Penn does not mix it's deferred pool with RD pool right? If that's the case, and assuming Penn rejected 40% ED then the deferred applicant's are competiting against themselves...

Pennhunter, your regional rep said to send third quarter grades? The midyear report only includes 1st 2 quarters (depending on what system your school goes by). So is she basically saying send mid year grades, and then also send another transcript in early march after you get another set of grades?

guys dude.. if dulce says that two legacies were accepted after deferral then it must be true dudes! our theory has some holes in it dudes!

laugh my ASS off

i'm a URM applying ED. psh.

laugh my as s of with venus Dudes!!!

the nursing dean told my GC to send my 3rd quarter report card.
who all applied to a joint program??

Does anyone know where else I should apply besides Georgetown. My mom is about ready to slit my throat because I hate slu and i wont have anywhere to go if i get rejected by Penn and Georgetown.

remember i want to double major in nursing and management

UNC - Chapel Hill

its so big

thats true...maybe wake forest? dunno about their nursing program....but their business school is good

Most URMs and poor people apply to college RD (which is why HP and UVA are getting rid of early). Developmental candidates have buildings named after them (pretty much the rich kids who are soso at school) and most are taken ED.

The truth is, your chances ED and RD are about the same because ED numbers are inflated by athletes and developmental candidates (there aren't a ton, but they somewhat bring down the averages). The only advantage ED gives you is that you commit to the college, so it may become a tipping factor. The chances you have for getting in after being deferred are in the hands of the RD pool. The weaker the RD pool, the more likely a deferred applicant gets in RD.

UNC Chapel Hill is SUPER HARD for out of staters to get into. I got a likely letter from them last week.
Anyone OOS needs to have stats good enough for an Ivy League to get into Chapel Hill

Let's see...for Chapel Hill, if you're OOS, your stats need to be as good as for the Ivies. BTW>>>I got a likely letter from UNC. Basically, it says I'm in and will be invited to special events in March and April. EA decisions will be released end of Jan.
