When in the application process do you commit to live on campus?

I'm looking at decent schools here in NJ that I know are in my reach. Kean, Rutgers, and Seton Hall to name a few. The problem is my parents refuse to let me live on campus anywhere unless I get a free ride. (I've argued it to death with them and not much action to take since they are paying...) I could probably get some money from these schools but I'm not sure about a full ride....

I'll be applying for tons of private scholarships but won't know how much money I've earned from them until later on this school year. I won't have to be concerned about this till later on right?

I can speak for Rutgers since I go there. You commit to live on campus after you get accepted at the school and have confirmed that you will attend. Once you confirm your attendance, you will have to pay a housing deposit (by either May or June).

Thank you for the info
