When is the application available online?

Can anyone see the application forms in myMIT?

Thanks, Chris.

One week away!

yep!! for better or for worse (for all of us)!!

Curious, if the application opens on august 19th, do you ever have anyone submit it ridiculously early? As in, the same day/next day?

Also curious, is there an actual benefit to doing that? Do you read them in order of submission, alphabetical, or what?

Another curious question,
Does the admissions committee starts making decision as soon as the applications starts rolling in, or after the deadline has passed ? And does the decision is made on a case-by-case basis or taken as overall after all the apps have been read ?

No to all three – the first batch of applications won’t be sent to readers until later this fall, usually right around the application deadline. And each application is read by multiple people, so an application that’s read by one person early will be read by other people later.

No decisions will be made until the admissions committee meets in early December (for EA) or late February (for RD).

You guys can find more information on the way MIT reads and selects applications here.

Is it true that it doesn’t matter if you do EA or RD admission? They don’t have a preference unlike some schools?

Correct – there’s no preference by MIT for EA applicants.

Some of the questions being asked here are answered on the first page of the FAQ thread stickied at the top of the forum, and I’d encourage everybody to check it out.

yes, snipersas, although - for all the reasons mollie said - it doesn’t matter.
