Ours is 90-100= 4.0 unweighted. It's an A average.

wow an A- average at my school is a 3.67 and we don't weight. I'm jealous of some of you!

It just shows how hard it is to compare GPA. Usually, when someone has a GPA over 4.0 it's because of weighting grades for AP and honors classes (so an A in an AP class is worth a 5 instaead of a 4). My S's school does not weitght, which also affects class rank (as those with easy classes fill up many of the tops spots. It would be so nice if all scholls were consistent, eh.

3.3 88 B
3.2 87 B
3.1 86 B

96-100=4.0
95=3.875
94=3.75
93=3.625
92=3.5
91=3.375
90=3.25
89=3.125
88=3.0
....
80=2.0

And unlike the "OMG My school is so hard, a 100 is a 4.0 but the top 10 all have 99+ averages!" it is very difficult to get a 4.0 in any class.

yeah i wish that on chance threads people would actually put their average 100 point grade instead of average GPA based grade. because a 4.0 at some schools is different than others. At my school its 4.0 A, 3.66 A-, etc. I have a 3.55 GPA (B+/A-), but that could be construed as a C by some members of CC.

A 4.0 means different things to different people. Taking only AP classes and getting only A's in them would be a 5.0 at my school, yet people consistently report having a greater-than-5.0 GPA on here.

What the hell!

My school a 4.0 is a 100

3.8 is 95 (which is what I have right now)

This sucks. lol.

I thought colleges don't care what gpa your school calculates. Colleges get the transcripts and use their own grading scale I thought?

Here's mine, it's actually fairly easy:
93 - 100: 4.0
90 - 92: 3.75
87 - 89: 3.5
83 - 86: 3.25
80 - 82: 3.0

You get the gist. Basically it's easy in the 90 - 100 range but gets trickier once you get into the B range.

For us, non weighted is out of 5, and weighted is out of 6.

Weird. At my school, a 4.0 would be an "A"...

A 93-100 4.0
A- 90-92 3.75
B+ 87-89 3.5
B 83-86 3.0

... And so on. An AP or Honors class is out of 4.6, with an A- being 4.27 and a B+ around 3.92.
B- 80-82 2.75

^thats what we have

excpet AP is 5.0
