So I'm an international student planning to attend Berkeley this fall, and I'm really confused..

I would not be able to attend the orientation or open houses, and probably be arriving as late as possible.

I'm confused as to when I should be arriving..

calendar says "Fall Semester starts" at August 16th,

and "Instruction begins" on August 25th.

When do people usually move in?

and when will I be able to sign up for my classes?

Thank you very much!

I’d like to know this too! BUMP!

Classes start on Aug 25, so you want to be here before then at the very least. “Fall semester starts” is more for admin purposes and doesn’t really apply to students.

Are you living in the dorms? If so the “official” move-in dates are usually the weekend before classes begin (it should be on the Housing website), which would also leave time for doing internationalish stuff like bank accounts, cellphone plans etc. before classes kick in.

You sign up for classes after the CalSO dates I believe (it should/will be on bearfacts) but I heard they’d give you an earlier Phase 2 to compensate.
