When should I accept my financial aid?

Hello, I am a new student planning to start school at PCC this fall. I have received what my Financial Aid will be from the school but I haven’t accepted the packet yet. The Pell Grant should cover my schooling completely (poor background lol). I am a bit worried to accept it though. Since I am doing all online courses I am worried they may not have every class I need, so I am wanting to wait to accept my Financial Aid once class registration begins. Is this OK? Will I be missing out on any money/be unable to accept if I wait until August when class registration begins?

Also to add, I can get the Pell grant if taking all online courses correct? I would be full time online so 12 credits a simester

You can wait, but if you wait too long it might take them a while to get it back up and be able to post it to your account.

If you accept the Pell (and often the school automatically accepts grants) and something changes, like you don’t take 12 credits, the school will make an adjustment anyway. It has to, because it can’t give you more Pell grant than allowed by regulations.

Call the school and ask when they need you to accept.

Call the school. My son must accept by July 1. Some aid, such as Perkins loans, is first come first serve and they run out of funds.

I just don’t want to get charged anything I am worried about that mostly. I am worried to accept financial aid only to find out i am unable to take the classes i need

Anyone know?

If you accept financial aid and then do not take the class, the financial aid is cancelled. You won’t be charged anything.

Oh ok thanks!
