When Should I do my Subject Tests?

So I am in my junior year of high school and wrote the SAT last October. I got a 1490 but I was hoping for a higher score, so I’m planning on writing again. The reason why I’m probably going to write in May is that June will be too hectic with school, and if I wanted to use my summer to study for the 3 subject tests I’m planning on doing (Math II, physics, chem). I feel stuck because if I somehow screw up the May test, I’ll have to stick with it because I need to do my subject tests in August. Because if I do any tests in October, I’m worried the results would come too late for any schools I’m planning on doing ED or EA for? I live in Canada, so I’m wondering if it’s common for people to do their subject tests in October because what if the application deadline is before the results come back?

Why? Unless it was 690/800, I think you’re wasting your time retaking.

Probably not the best use of your summer.

Subject Tests aren’t offered in August for intl.

Almost all colleges accept October tests, but double check with your colleges.

You’re better off taking Subject Tests in May/June and retaking the SAT in Aug/Oct

@skieurope I’m obviously going to do more than just study in my summer, it’s just that the time chunk does allow for some development. I got 720/770 but I feel I could’ve gone a lot higher, considering my scores when I practiced. But are there August subject tests in the US? I am a US citizen.

How do colleges accept October tests if I already applied to the school? In the event that the scores come out late, what would I do to have my schools receive my scores, and would it hinder my chances?

I won’t take the subject tests in May/June as I haven’t prepared for them at all. My idea was to do the subject tests in August and the SAT in October but I don’t know if that can work in terms of timing.

Subject Tests are offered only in the US in August… Unless you’re coming to the US to take your exams, August is not an option. Your citizenship does not matter

The application asks when you took/plan to take tests. If you say October, then the college will know to look for October scores. Most ED/EA deadlines are 11/1, and October scores will be available by then anyway.

I live in Windsor, which is literally 10 minutes from the US, so going there isn’t really a problem. If I end up applying closer to the deadline, will I have a lower chance in comparison to applying earlier? Also, how would I fill the application when I already took the SAT but I’m going to take it “again” in October. Is there an option for that?

No.

It asks how many exam dates you want to report.
