When should I hear back from Burnett Honors College... and what are my chances?

Ethnicity: Mexican

Freshman GPA: 3.1 UW and W
Sophmore GPA: 2.6 UW and W
(transferred to another school and busted my ass...)
Junior GPA: Unknown UW (don't remember), 3.6 W, AP World History... 4 on the exam!
Senior Year*: Unknown UW (too lazy to calculate), 4.1 W, 4 APs (AP English Literature, AP US Government, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry)

ACT: 26 composite in December 2007 (28 English, 30 Maths, 24 Reading Comp and 23 Science)
SAT: 1270/1940 in December 2007, 1290/1970 in January 2008

Junior Varsity Football in 9th grade only, Ceramics/pottery, Spanish Club, CLC, School Newspaper Editor, National Beta Club, 75 community service hours...

And a well-written essay about how I went to Mexico and saw a bunch of poor people and how it motivated me to do better in school to become a doctor for Doctors Without Borders and help them.

Your GPA and SAT score both seem a little bit low, but honors looks for complete students who have lots of extracurriculars, volunteering, and write a good essay. You will find out pretty quickly if you are in or not, but I don’t know if you have anything that stands out to the people who select. If you wrote a good essay though, you might get in.

Good luck.

I think they look for a minimum of 29 ACT or 1340 SAT with a 4.0 gpa. I don’t know how strictly they stick to that.

Minimum? On the information sheet, all I found were averages of students who got in… and it was about a 29 ACT/1360 SAT, and 4.02? GPA

I don’t think it’s too difficult to get in if they send you an application as an invite. That means they’re interested.

My SAT was only 1260 (yea… I know) and my ACT was 30.

UW GPA I only have a 3.85

I kind of… asked for the app. Does this reduce my chances? And when do they get back to you? I sent it in 2 days ago.

My S heard back within ten days, I think … definitely less than two weeks. He was asked to apply, though … so I don’t know how it is if you ask for an application.

zebes

My friend requested an application – wasn’t sent one – and she got accepted. I guess they just send it to the top people first and if they don’t want to participate, there’s more room.

I heard back within two weeks, as well.

Cool! Anyway… do I hear back via mail or on UCF’s PeopleSoft (MyUCF) thingy? Or email?

I heard by mail. Haven’t seen a thing telling me about my connection to Burnett on MyUCF
