I applied to McCombs today for the Fall. Admissions informed me spring break is a good time to expect a letter. How long did you wait after the deadline to hear back?

That depends. Are you going to be automatically admitted? If you're not top 10% it takes a long time. I was automatically admitted and I heard back within two days (only online of course. It took about two weeks to get the actual letter).

aschap91, wat are ur stats? I am in the top 10%, but got deffered.

^ That's not physically possible. They are legally required to accept every single person in a legitimate top 10% spot in every school in Texas that ranks. It's not optional; it's the law!

u sure you were top 10%?

I think that applys to the college as a whole. McCombs has a higher requirement. Engineering and Bussiness are the two colleges that the 10% rule arn't always implimented.

^ Oh yeah, that's true, but they would still have to indicate somehow: "You're still in, just not to McCombs!"

ampzor and hookem are right, reloaded. If you're really top 10%, and not like 10.5%, then you should be in.

I think he means he was accepted to UT but the decision on whether or not he was admitted to McCombs was deferred til later in the admissions cycle.

I'm a transfer student meaning I'm not automatically admitted. Do top 10% really care when they get a letter? Who cares, they're accepted. I'm just curious to know when people got letters to prevent me from maximizing my anxiety level.

SORRY, I meant 2 say Deferred from McCombs :p

well anyway, reloaded, I don't think it will help you any because I didn't apply for McCombs, I applied for Liberal Arts (philosophy), but here are my stats:

White, Female
Rank: 38/656
GPA: 4.3
ACT:30
SAT:2080
E/Cs:
-President of a club that I started in an effort to promote tolerance of race, religiousn, sexual orientation, etc. on my campus
-Vice President of Best Buddies
-Ambassador of Chess Club
-Historian of Student Council
-Member of National Honor Society and French Club
-Top 5 Varsity golf player (although I will not be playing on the Texas team)

I'm also an early graduate.

Anyway, if you don't end up being accepted to McCombs, you can come and hang out in liberal arts with me! :) Haha. Obviously, as a liberal arts major, UT was not one of my top choice schools at first. In fact UT was my safety. But now, as I've gotten to know more about the campus it is in my top two schools. Now I just have to wait for Brown's decision... :)

But good luck with McCombs!! Did you apply for honors?
