Hello, I am going to apply early to some of the schools and I would like to know when is the good time to send in my official SAT score reports. How long does it take for the schools to receive my scores?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am going to apply early to some of the schools and I would like to know when is the good time to send in my official SAT score reports. How long does it take for the schools to receive my scores?

Thanks in advance!

I have read that it can take 4-6 weeks. I imagine that’s if they have a logjam at the receiving school (they’re usually received electronically).

Test scores cost roughly $10 to send, but $40 if they’re to be expedited. So, I sent my son’s scores to any school he was likely to apply to, early or regular, figuring that 1 rush send would be the equivalent of 3 unnecessary sends :-)

YMMV

From what I understand, there is almost never a reason to ask for expedited transmission. Some colleges even state as much. It’s a daily data dump. The school logs in, downloads the latest batch of scores/data. And there was your $10 of service.

Thank you, so would you recommend that I send my SAT scores before October, so that I can avoid expedited transmission?

I think you should apply ASAP after you decide that you will definitely be applying to this and that college. You can always send more later as you add on to the list.

It all depends on the deadlines, but good planning should help avoid the expedited transmission fee, which I agree, is not really necessary.

Can I send SAT scores now but send scores later if I improve?

Scores can be sent before sending application. They will match the two when application arrives. If you have scores already and will be applying EA or ED, you can send them now. Ordering them sent by about 10 days before the application deadline will usually assure they will arrive by the application deadline. you should check specific schools for any rules on providing scores. Most don’t actually require the scores to arrive by the application deadline. In fact many schools even take Nov SAT scores for ED or EA but others want testing completed earlier.

As to sending scores now and sending improved scores later, you can do that and those later scores will be considered as long as they are ones accepted by the college for the particular decision period (EA, ED or RA).

So would I be able to send the other parts of the application now and the scores near the deadline?
