When should I start getting prep books?

I'm a rising Junior who plans on self-studying between 4-6 APs along with taking 2 APs as classes. I know CB recently removed their deduction for incorrect MC Answers, so should I wait for prep books to update with this information or should I just buy the current version of prep books? Is the subject matter of certain APs likely to change along with this change in the grading system?

I doubt a change in grading system will affect the questions. If I were you I’d just go ahead and by the current books.

Actually, the new editions of the PR and Kaplan books (not sure about others) will come out in either August or September, depending on the subject. Search “cracking the ap 2011” or “kaplan ap 2011” on Amazon to check by subject. So if you can wait one or two months, you can buy new editions.

(Apparently Human Geography had some material changed, so I’ll be buying books for that in September.)

You can buy the old version, not too old though, of prep books. As long as the content hasn’t changed, it’s fine.

Wait, when did CB stop deducting for incorrect multiple choice answers? Is there a link out there announcing this?

There was a thread some time back about this.

Has it been confirmed?

Yes, CB posted revised score sheets for all of the released exams saying this and for some Course Description Guides as well.

Yes, it has been confirmed. So is any particular AP Subject’s content likely changing this year?

Human geography and world history have changed slightly. Go to AP central to check out the rest.

So, I guess I should wait to get the PR World History book then

I’ve always been using my brother’s old prep AP/SAT books from 6,7 years ago… Not much has changed, and I had no problems with them.

Actually I don’t think it really matters. The weighting has been changed slightly.

Oh, so no change in actual content?

Go and check here.

The listed changes start in May of 2012, so it looks like the 2010 world history books will suffice for this year

Ooops, sorry.
