I haven't even looked at a biology subject since freshman year (when I had the class). And I am debating whether I want to be a biology major or not at one of the UCs and some require that I take the sat 2 for biology. When should I take it? Would I be able to take it after I take ap bio senior year or do I have to take it before my applications are turned in? If I have to do it early, how should I study for it since I don't remember much of anything?

Just go get an sat subject test study book and go over it for a month. It’s much easier than AP. I scored a 780 last year after studying for a month. It was serious studying though.

Did you study biology your freshman year?

The absolute best case scenario would be taking the SATII right after taking your AP Biology exam in May of your junior year.

In your situation, assuming you are a senior, I would suggest intense studying of AP Biology and SAT II prep books. The SAT II is generally somewhat easier than the AP exam, however, it is always an advantage to know photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and cell division/molecular biology at the AP Bio level.

The rest of SAT II subjects like body systems, ecology, and general knowledge questions are best left to the SAT II review books.

Good luck!

No I am a junior. And I don’t take ap biology until my senior year:/ what do I do?

Study for the SAT II over the summer before your senior year, if you can muster the drive to overcome procrastination. Studying is generally most effective if you have the stress-free time to do so, and if you begin a month or so prior to taking the exam.

I am assuming you are aiming for a score in the 700-800 range, so I’d advise to give yourself all of August and some of September to truly let the material soak in. Then take the SAT II in October. If your score is lower than expected, squeeze another test in November (still applicable if you’re doing EA/ED).

If financially possible, you might want to try studying over your spring break of junior year and taking an actual SAT II test in May/June to get a feel for the testing atmosphere.

I am definitely taking a math 2 subject test this year, and possibly a spanish one. I’m not sure which month yet though. I am just unsure what to do about biology because I haven’t taken it since freshman year and I am not taking ap bio until senior year (I know these aren’t necessarily required except for engineering and some science majors, but I still want to stand out from the crowd)

And would I be able to take my sat 2 bio before my applications get turned in senior year? Or would it be too late?
