I am going to be a sophomore next year taking Trigonometry/Pre. Calculus (regular). I skipped Geometry in the summer of 8th grade. So should I take it in 10th grade, or wait until 11th grade (AP Calc AB) to take it?
I took it in sophomore year while taking Algebra II (no trig)- I self-studied because I was bored in class. Honestly didn’t look at the trig that much, and I got a 770- so I would probably wait until towards the end of this year so you have the trig knowledge. Honestly, the only thing close to calc on the exam is limits, so as long as you know that, I would suggest you just get it over with in May or June
are these on the math 2 test:
-coordinate geometry with rotated conics
-vector equations for a line and plane in space
Definitely take it directly after you have taken precalc. The precalc material will be fresh in your mind and you will score higher. I know a lot of kids who were in advanced math at my school (Ap Calc AB as a junior) and then took Math 2 that year and did not score higher than the kids in precalc that year. Also, you will most likely have many AP exams for your junior year, so if you can get any subject tests out of the way early, you will take a lot of stress off yourself at the end of junior year.
I also suggest taking it after you finish pre-calc, but in general, take it when the topics are fresh in your mind.
@darkshadow4 Both of those topics are on the exam, but there will likely be no more than three questions total on these subjects on the exam- there is sufficient review for them in the Barrons book over like four pages.
