So I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and a little while ago I got my PSAT scores and they were as follows:
Critical Reading: 59
Math: 64
Critical Writing: 67
Total: 190
I am more than happy with these scores, and among my parents, the topic of taking the SAT naturally came up. My parents have suggested that I take it in June, after my AP test. They want to see what kind of score I get, so if I need to, I can take an SAT prep course, like a lot of my friends are looking into doing. This seems fine with me, but I do have a few questions. Feel free to answer some or all of them:
1. How closely do PSAT scores translate to SAT scores? Like, I don't want to go take the SAT and get like, 1400 or something.
2. At the place that I'm at (score-wise and grade-wise), would it be a good idea to take it?
3. I know that I really need to improve my critical reading score, but what about my math and writing scores? Are those considered good? Please note that at the time of the test, I hadn't taken Geometry yet, so I really didn't know what I was doing for like, 1/3 of the math.
Thanks! :D

Take the sat this spring/summer to get a base number and idea of knowing where you score. You can then retake during your junior year. Ideally, have the score you want by the start of your senior year to take the pressure off while you do college applications. You have a very good start, but believe me the biggest mistake people make is applying to colleges and still trying to get the score they need/want to be accepted. Have that done and hen you just have to worry about the essays!! Good luck!

nice job on that critical writing
