when should i take my SAT I?

im a sophomore in high school, and i was wonderin when i should take my SAT I. also, howmuch time should i devote to studyin for it? i already got the kaplan and princeton book, jus havent started studyin for it yet.

p.s. i only got a 140 on my psat, and im aiming for atleast a 2150 on my sat

Well, sicne you didn't do as well on your PSAT as you're looking to do on the SAT, I would suggest that you think about how you're going to plan your studying around taking the test.

I took my first SAT at the end of the equivalent of sophomore year, and I feel that that was good timing.

Wouldn't hurt to take it end of this year if you find the time to study for it. Otherwise, aim for next fall and make yourself study over the summer.

spring and either late fall or early winter of your junior year.
fall of your senior year.

yea, take it before November. I was in your shoe last year and i took my last ACT in december, leaving me unqualified for many many merit aid opportunities. I regret it deeply.

so ill take it this spring. then fall and spring for my junior year. and fall of my senior year if im not satisfied wit my score. do u think colleges will like it if i take if more than 3 times? or is that jus some dumb rumor?

dumb rumor. They don't care as long as it's not 5 times. It's just that a student usually performs to his or her max level after 2 times.

if your scores keep increasing they really shouldn't care that much.

of course there're also the people who take it 12 times...

I would study as best you can between retakes so that you don't have to take it 4 times. The SAT sucks.

yeah, it does. I took it twice and my scores didn't change much, but I ran out of time to retake. that's why taking early is good. but spread it out, you don't need every test date.
