When should I take the SAT?

I’m currently a junior, and for the past 2 months or so, I’ve been prepping heavily for the SAT. My most recent practice test scores have been 1570 (Essay: 22) and 1520. Because of how busy my schedule has been, I’ve been urged to just take the November test to get it over with. However, I’ve been feeling uneasy about signing up for the test. I haven’t prepped as much as like for the SAT, and I’ve had significant score fluctuations. I know if I sign up now, I’m going to go ham on SAT prep and likely put excessive amounts of stress on myself. Therefore, I feel it would be reasonable to sign up for the December test because I would have more time to prep and to assure I’ll score well on the test. What do you guys think?

You answered your own question. You seem to be more comfortable with waiting. And, as a junior, you have plenty of time.

In my opinion, you should take it in November. However, you did kind of answer your own question ( taking it in December seems better). You are already scoring immensely high. Therefore, I would just take it to be done with it. I had a friend who is senior this year: took the sat and scored the same as you without studying. He had that one burden gone. This is a big burden and it seems you are already prepared to take it. Hope this helped.
