<p>For US History, you should indeed take the subject test after the course. With only a little extra preparation (that can be tied into studying for the AP test), you can easily do well no the subject test. With regard to sciences subject tests, it really depends on how comprehensive the first year course is. For example, my first chemistry course (taken sophomore year) didn’t cover equilbrium, kinetics, acid/base, etc. (the list goes on and on); anyway, it was not enough preparation for the subject test by any means. However, my accelerated physics course (again taken sophomore year) would’ve been more than enough prep for the subject test in physics (had I been savvy enough to take it).
