I'm currently entering my junior year and I need to take a few SAT Subject tests but I'm not really sure which ones to take and when I should take them. The only one that I for sure know that I'm going to take is Math Level 2 since I'm good at math and it seems to have the most generous curve. However I'm not sure how many others I should take, or which others to take. I took AP World History as a freshman and got a 5, so I'm considering the World History Subject test. However, I took that class a while ago and don't remember all of the facts and material. I took AP Euro this year, and am taking APUSH next year. So I guess I could also take the US subject test too. Last year I also took AP Physics B (which was also an IB physics class) and next year I'm taking AP Physics C. I'm not bad at Physics, and next year would be my 4th consecutive year taking a physics class, so I would definitely consider Physics too. And the one last test that I'm considering is Chemistry. I took honors/pre-IB chem last year as a sophomore and next year I'm taking Double block chem (AP and IB) so I feel like I'd be pretty strong in Chem as well. If you guys could just let me know how many subject tests you think I should take, which ones, and when I should take them, that would be great. Also any tips on reviewing for the tests (review books, web sites, etc.) would be greatly appreciated as well.

take whatever tests you think you will do the best in. Most of the material (but not all!) that is on the subject tests corresponds with the material learned in the AP course, so it would be wise to take the subject tests that you have taken the AP course for. It is good to take them in May or June, when you are at the height of reviewing for the AP tests, but you should still read through a review book because it will give you information you may not have learned in the AP course. For you, I’d say definitely take Math II and US history, and then take either Chem/Physics. If you do well on all of them it shows that you’re well rounded in humanities, science, and math.

The Physics test is really easy. I thought I failed that test yet I still got a 710.

Alright thanks. I think I’ll probably take Math level 2, Physics and US History next May, as that seems like the perfect time based on the AP tests.

Yeah Chem has a brutal curve.

Take them as early as possible. My biggest regret is waiting until the last minute to do my tests!

The worse curve is in Math1. Physics and Math2 have the most generous curve to get 800. Chem is not that bad.
