When should we expect the admission packet and financial aid?

Whether I can go to Chicago or not depends on financial aid, so I'm getting a little antsy. When can we expect it?

And how much should we expect? How many loans do they usually dump on you?

Usually within a week, depending on where you live. I'm in Maine and I got my admissions packet within about a week. My FA offer was a week after that, but that was for EA...I think FA and admissions all come together for RD.

"And how much should we expect? How many loans do they usually dump on you?"

Depends on how much your parents make (what your need is). The more your parents make and the more you parents have in investments (houses, land, stock, bank...) the less you will receive. A rough estimate can be found on the college board calculator.

College Calculators - savings calculators - college costs, loans

Got my acceptance packet today (I live outside of Chicago), but it says the FA packet won't come until up to 2 weeks later.

Yuuuck. Well thanks.
Does anyone know if we're allowed to approach the FA office with FA from other schools?

Ummm. I don't know. I'd wait though. See what they are giving you. From my EA estimate it looks like UChicago is very generous.

I'm glad to hear that! I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm starting to get used to the idea of going to UChicago...thanks, guys.

I got my acceptance package today.

FB lalaland: did you get FA?

Haven’t got it.

I got my acceptance package today (Upstate NY) but it said FA would come later

Did they send it via USPS or a different company?

UPS 10char

Same - received mine today (upstate New York) and that if you’re eligible for more financial aid - it’ll come in 10 days (mailed on the 25th)
