I applied RD in early January, and got provisional acceptance in late January (a likely letter i guess?) and submitted all my FA materials upon receiving acceptance. However, I still haven’t gotten my financial aid package. Does anyone have an idea as to when I will receive that? I haven’t officially been accepted yet, but I am stressing out because I just would like to figure out if I can attend UChicago or not!
@tiredstudent1 my son received his FA on the day of formal acceptance. He also received a likely letter but applied ED1 last year (class of '22). I think past performance could point to you receiving it on Friday.
@tiredstudent1 - you have actually not yet been accepted - you’ll need to wait for that admit letter ;). Hopefully quickly after that.
Edit to add: have you signed up yet for one of the overnights? You’ll probably get an opportunity to meet with Fin. Aid. person-to-person.
@JBStillFlying I got invited to Destination UChicago so I am planning on attending an overnight thru that! I’m nervous they are gonna rescind my offer for some reason which is why I am stressed. I am not sure why they gave me access to the admitted students page or an option to submit my enrollment deposit if I am not accepted ?
It is wierd, same thing happened to us last year. We could pay our deposit, access admitted students page, etc., but the official acceptance will come Friday, and most likely your FA package.
@BrianBoiler Thank you!! That was helpful and a little reassuring!!
@tiredstudent1 - Be sure to post what happens. BTW, if your sibling is currently at UChicago and receiving fin. aid, you will probably get at least the same need-based portion. Obviously, F/A decisions for the returning students aren’t out yet, but hopefully you have less uncertainty than someone who is first (or only) in the family to attend. Good luck!
Should be at least I’d think. Most likely more.
@tiredstudent1 - how did it all work out yesterday? Did you get your FA package?
@JBStillFlying Yes! Very excited!! I got my official acceptance, and they changed my merit award to something better, and gave me my FA package so I am very happy!! My FA worked out in my favor so I can officially commit to my dream school!
^ Congratulations! So glad it all worked out. Good luck this fall!
