When should you start looking for a summer job?

^ All the websites say start looking "early," but when exactly it that? I want to start in June, or even May if I'm not too busy.

That's definetely not early enough. Early typically means March/April, but if you're in a surburban area with too many teens and not too many job offers, start sometime closer to February. This may seem like overkill, but you'll be happy looking like an overeager kid with a job already lined up than to be stuck doing nothing because you waited too long.

yea...i 2nd princessbell...its never too early...better early than late

Oops, I meant I wanted to start my job in May or June. Thanks for the information though; I think I'll start applying late February or early March...I won't really know my exact availability until late April, though.

it depends. if you're leaving for the summer (or part of it), you should start now. No kidding. I got a job offer last summer a MONTH before i left (end of may) and they didn't take me when i told them i was leaving for 3 weeks.

For jobs like summer camps, you have to apply pretty early, because they have to set up their programs around their staff, so they have to secure their staff early. This will be my fourth summer at a day camp (I have to apply every year, just for paperwork purposes), and you have to apply in either Feb, March, or April

I got my summer job in April, and started right away to ensure that they wouldn't give it to anyone else.

Getting a job is HARD. I totally underestimated the process.

My camp job, only had to go to a group interview...and I got it, was really easy especially because I live across the street from the camp.

But I guess working at a camp is a bit different than your average job.
