When to apply for housing

<p>I still have over a month before the housing and SIR deadlines are but UCLA is sending me e-mails reminding me to apply ASAP even though I have plenty of time. Should I really do this ASAP? I wasn't planning on applying for housing and sending in my SIR until after April 11th's Engineering Open House. This way, I know for sure I want to go to UCLA and by this time, I'll know which of my friends are also going to UCLA so I can request them as roommates. Would April 11th be too late or should that still be early enough to get me a decent room with my friends?</p>

<p>BTW, I'm more concerned about being able to make sure my high school friends are my roommates than I'm concerned with getting a really nice room.</p>

<p>You should probably be okay, they don’t do most of the assignments or get them together until August. I’d chill, but do turn it in as soon as you’ve made your decision.</p>

<p>Yeah you don’t have to worry as long as you make the deadlines (May 1st for SIR, May 15 for Housing). Those emails are sent weekly as reminders, and they say to apply ASAP because the emails will not change with time so in a month it’s going to say the same thing and that’s when you gotta start taking it seriously.</p>
