When to APPLY

Hi, i am a rising senior and am planning to take the ACT this September, and SAT this OCT.

I already took SAT twice but was determined that my score is way no good from satisfying the admisnisters of colleges. And this Sep ACT would be my first time taking it.

Well, I was looking forward to go for early action/decision for most of the colleges that I want. But I found that most deadlines are Nov.1.

Is it possible that I apply to the colleges as an early action/decision with the score of Sep ACT? Or should I just go for the regular action?

I was keep searching until this moment about ACT's test releasing date, then found out that it could take 8 weeks and additional 2 weeks for the writing score.

Please tell me anything that would be beneficial for my admission to the colleges.

It is pretty tough to figure out what to do when I have absolutely no knowleges about college admission...:-(

Most colleges that do EA or ED in early November accept October test dates as the last tests. Yes, ACT says it can take 8 weeks but the initial scores are up in less than 3 weeks and the writing scores take about five weeks at most.

So even though the score which is from Sept or Oct is not up until the EA/ED’s deadline, I can still send that score to apply for EA/ED?

As long as the school knows you are sending additional scores, they’ll be fine with it. Check with the specific school’s ED page if you’re unsure.

The October SAT should be perfectly fine for ED/EA. You don’t need to wait for the scores to come back in order to send in your application: just indicate on the application on the part where you put down SAT scores that you will be taking the test in Oct. Colleges use the official score report from collegeboard to update your testing records anyway, not what you report on the application.
