For SCEA, I will probably be down to the deadline finishing my longer essays such as the common app one and the supplement, and the smaller EC's one. However, when do you guys recommend that I submit the regular application (without essays or recs or anything like that?).

What happens when you submit this? Are you reviewed by the adcoms in the order that you submit the application? The earlier you submit the application the more likelier you will get an interview (I'd rather have one)?

Do not under any circumstance submit your application without the essays attached. The application will be discarded. When applying on the internet you application is almost immediately transmitted to Yale so you shouldn't really worry about it being received late. From what I understand you are not reviewed by order of receipt of application but alphabetical by region (well each admissions officer has his/her own region). Almost everyone gets an interview by the way and it you don't it DOES NOT really matter as it is weighed so little in the eyes of a the officer. Good luck.

Not everyone gets an interview. You'll see a number of those people freaking out on this board later in this admissions cycle. There are people in urban areas with more applicants than interviewers and people in rural areas with no interviewers at all. The order in which application are submitted is the order in which the local volunteer who coordinates the alumni interviews in your area receives your name. Those who submit early are more likely to be interviewed as all the interviewers' time may be gone when the later names come up or the late name may be processed to the volunteer coordinator after the final date for alumni interview report submission.

Well Yale says that the interviews are not used against you, though they didn't mention anything about it not helping you... so if you leave a good impression it could only be to your benefit, no?

Also, I live in connecticut so wouldn't it be relatively easy for me to get an interview? I can even travel to New Haven if necessary.

As for the applications, ok, hmm, I wonder where I heard that we should send it as early as possible, and that it was OK to send the essay later and just submit the common app so that they can create a file for you.

But wait... when do they actually start reviewing applicants? If they only start reviewing after Nov. 1, should it matter if you send only the first part of the common app without essays in.. september? Ofcourse by november 1st you would have everything in.
