My GC is weird and wants me to mail out all of my reports to the schools outside of the state that I'm applying to (I don't understand; probably due to laziness, right?).

I have made enough copies of all reports for all eight of my schools and have addressed all the envelopes. The only thing left is to seal them and send them off.

When should each report be sent (school report, midyear report, and final report)?

My GC said that the school report should be sent ASAP, midyear report needs to be "soon," and didn't mention the final report. I suspect this is due to the fact that 90% of my school's graduates go to in-state schools where the Common App isn't even used. I can't see my GC because she left on vacation for Thanksgiving.

Have you really understood that correctly? Because that is all kinds of bizarre. These reports should be sent by the school.

Leaving that huge issue aside, here’s the timing.

Yes, the School Report Form should go as soon as it’s ready.

The Mid-Year Report Form goes as soon as your first-semester grades are final. This form has two purposes: to confirm to colleges that you are persisting in whatever classes you told them you were taking in your original application, and to report your mid-year grades.

The Final Report only goes to the college or university where you decide to enroll. It goes after the end of school. It confirms to the college that you graduated, and reports your final grades.

But, back to my first point, your GC really wants you to send these reports? Because that is all kinds of bizarre. She may be on vacation next week, but can you confirm this with your principal or somebody else at school? Preferably somebody above the GC in the school hierarchy?

^ I really don’t understand either. I’m just following procedure because 1) my GC abhors me and would probably leave my mailings to the last minute and/or forget and 2) my GC is frivolous when it comes serious matters. I would just rather mail them myself than go through the chaos of not knowing for certainty they were sent in on time.

The return address is my school’s address, so I don’t think they will be much concern. I know there is the uncertainty of me altering anything, but honestly, I’m fairly confident in my standards. I’m not the best, but given my circumstances, I feel that any of reports do showcase my success. I don’t need to edit anything on the reports.
