I'm guessing this question has been asked many times.

I will take Honors Bio in 9th grade. Should I take the SAT 2 Bio the summer following this course? Also, would you recommend E/M or both and why?

Same question applies to Honors Chem(in 10th grade)/SAT 2 Chemistry.

When do you recommend taking Math Level 1 and 2?

Thanks

It’s always been reccommended that you take the subject test after you complete the highest level in the subject that you plan to pursue. If you’re planning on taking AP Bio sophomore or junior year, then you should hold out on the subject test! Also, regular Bio might not cover everything you need to know for the subject test, so you might have to self-study a tad to know all the material.

Same thing goes for Chem! If you’re gonna take AP Chem at some point, wait to take the subject test! I know for a face that the subject test has more content than regular honors Chem!

Take Math 2 after precalc.

Also, the best time to take the subject test would be early June (the last round before Summer) after the AP tests.

No need to take Math 1 if you are taking Math 2C. You don’t need that many subject tests, sometimes less is more.

Coming from someone who hasn’t taken AP Chem, I don’t think that you’ll be very far off from being ready if you take honours chem. There really isn’t that much extra, most of it is self-evident anyways. It’ll probably require a little bit of hardwork, but it it’s too bad.

Let’s say I do Honors Bio/ Honors Chem and I start studying one or two months earlier for the SAT 2 in the respective subject. Any chance I can get a 750+(assuming my teacher wasn’t horrible and I got an A)?

And thanks for the recommendations everyone.

PLEASE consider taking the SAT II in Bio after your freshman bio class. My son is in AP Bio and the AP exam is totally different in terms of focus and depth than the SAT II Bio exam.

It should be a consideration how close the AP exam and SAT II exam are for a subject. My son is taking his SAT II Latin this week, because his junior year’s AP Latin is heavy on composition and the SAT II Latin exam is just vocab and simple stuff (about Latin 3 and he is in Latin 4 now, and AP Latin is essentially Latin 5).

Take the practice exams early in your studying process (March at the latest for June testing) to see how you will do. And you DON’T have to take Math 1 if you are taking Math 2. I was told that schools will ignore Math 1 if you took Math 2 as well; it’s not like they would say “oh, an 800 on Math 1 means we can ignore the 500 on the Math 2”. Math 1 is early math than Math 2, yet Math 2 is mostly before pre-calculus.
