When visiting campus...

Hi all. I used to take advantage of this forum a lot and haven't been around much, but I just wanted to give a piece of advice...

I know you've probably all been told to not rely solely on the tour guides and to approach random students to ask about their experience/opinions toward the college, as was I when I was visiting schools. And I'm sure that, just like me, many of you might feel that people would think you were annoying or a wierdo if you just approached them on the streets and started up a conversation about the school you're visiting. However, this morning I was walking from the gym to the caf and I passed a tour and realized that I would absolutely LOVE it if a prospective student came and asked me about the school. I always have the urge to talk to those in the tours (an urge I control, heh) because of my enthusiasm for the school. So, in short, I think that it would be beneficial for visitors to just bite the bullet and learn something about the university from a passerby student (as long as they're not in a rush)...there's a lot they don't have time to tell you on the tours!

PS- along the same lines, if anyone has any questions or is visiting campus and wants more personalized information, feel free to send me a message...I'll try to remember to log onto this site every once in a while.

I could not agree more! I'm at Colgate and would be tickled pink if a prospective had questions for me! cny06 is so right, "interviewing" current students is the best way to go.
