@GoAskDad Nice to see you here! I enjoyed following your posts for the class of 2015 regarding the PSAT scores, NMSF and NMF, etc…and I hope you can entertain everyone with the “Jimmy the Intern” stories and the country song lyrics!
My S is class of 2016, and will most likely find out he is NMF next month. We have several good friends with kids who took 2015 PSAT, so I am following along to see how the new test/results/process works out for our friends and for everyone.
Thank you, @4kids2graduate - I’m glad my prior posts were entertaining. Sheesh, last year was such a crazy ride that it would be hard to replicate again this year…nor could I live through that again! I wanted to check on everyone this year, and get my head back in the game for next year when my DS 2018 will be getting his “real” PSAT score. Hopefully he will make the cut-off (though who knows??) and hopefully he will not have a “C” to worry about. But that’s putting the cart before the horse! I’m just here to encourage everyone, like folks did for me last year, and maybe we’ll hear from Jimmie & Crew at some point. They probably have the smartboard fired-up by now. This must be their favorite time of year!
I woke my son up and we looked together. I didn’t cheat. It took a while, but found the Selection Index of 211. Last year Mississippi’s cutoff of 209 was the highest ever, and it’s supposed to go down since the top score is compressed, so we’re feeling very good.
@Badri485 Nobody knows! I think the concordance chart they have published is a bit off. Right now, the best thing you can do is look at the historical cutoff scores for Arizona and see where they fall on a percentile chart. They try to guesstimate your percentile from the three percentiles that are given. They will issue a score report that give actual selection score percentiles soon enough. The more your percentile beats your states historical percentile, the greater your chance.
My son’s scores are there, and he kicked butt!! Happy dancing in WV. 99% across the board, 1430 total score, 212 selection index. Our state (WV) has never had a selection cutoff higher than 203-ish, so he should make the cut off easily, barring some unforeseen catastrophic program change. So very happy for him!
@mmom99 Lower cutoff scores are one of the few benefits of living in a high-poverty state. Mississippi’s cutoff has been rising and actually got to 209 last year. I didn’t know whether to applaud or boo and hiss.
Till last year, the total score 240 and cut off was indicated state wise. I think this year the total score is 228 (38x3x2). Hence cut off for this year should be lower??
