when I check my ebill, it says i still owe $7788..iono if my FA has been applied yet. also, when will my loans be transferred to my account!?

the funds should be sent within a day or two

has any of your aid been paid? in myfinaid

ebill only updates once a month, don’t rely on that

o ic thanks. on my myfinaid it says my grants r paid, but only some of my loans r paid (?)…why is that? i only accepted the subsidized $5500 loan, is i should get $2750 this fall, but it only says 1,893.00 is paid so far…

did your cal grant pay?

yes it did.

seems as though financial aid is paying parts of the financial aid separately, check again tomorrow

Where on the site are you seeing that your Cal Grant has paid???

Ha! Never mind. I found it! :-)

My Award Payment Status on Myfinaid is a black page with a header and button to print. Is there something wrong or has my aid just not been paid? Also, I’m missing documents proving US citizenship that must be brought to Sproul Hall in person. Will my aid not be paid before that happens?

check on bearfacts under your registration fees

also check your registration status under your profile

also, was the missing documents listed in your myfinaid page?
but either way, I’m pretty sure it’s important that your missing documents be turned in promptly

Okay, so all the financial aid goes into the CARS account… Cal Grant, Berkeley Scholarship, outside scholarship, Federal Grants, and loans… It gets there and then what? When does my son get his refund? He will be living in the dorms if that matters. He will have over $1000 coming to him. Does anyone know when he gets it? I tried calling financial aid and this time I got someone who seriously didn’t have a clue. My frustration level is through the roof. Anyone know how this works???

if EFT is set up, he should get it within a week after all the dues are paid

It is. Thank goodness. The lady at financial aid was telling me he wouldn’t get it until the end of the semester which didn’t make any sense to me at all. I finally called CARS and they verified he would get it at the beginning. Finally done with that. What a mess. One child down, two to go… Thanks for the response.

Basically, when the payments from FA create a credit balance in the CARS account (i.e. now), it is flagged for a refund. About once every three days they do refunds - using EFT if you have it, otherwise paper check. Should be just a few days after he has a credit in the account.

Everything has funded for him with the exception of the Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship, an outside scholarship that they have had since July 8th, and the Perkins loan. I am hopeful they will all fund here soon… Thanks for the info. It’s good to know he will have use of his refund throughout the semester.

According to BearFacts, it states that my EFT account is not active. When will it be active?

@External: they are supposedly being slow with the EFT thing; a lot of people have “unactive” accounts. Idk what else to say.

Also, “Approximately one week prior to the beginning of each semester your aid will be applied to your CARS account”

Thanks, cassernoix.

What if I am depending on my financial aid to pay for my tuition which is due on August 15th?

ok so are the dorm fees already updated to the quick statements on CAR? bc i’m only supposed to be receiving $9k in financial aid this semester, but it says i owe $0.00. but that’s odd since my dorm costs like $8k a semester almost (unit, double mini suite) and i still have to pay the $6k for registration and stuff…so i’m wondering how the $14k got paid by financial aid already…(if it has)

External, check your quick statement on BearFacts. If you have financial aid, some if not all, should have been paid out and you will see this on the quick statement. The amount owed on the quick statement is accurate and up to date. If financial aid is covering all of your semester bill and there is still an amount owed shown on the quick statement, be patient. It will all be covered eventually.

DomCobb, For a question like that, I would call the financial aid office. Be prepared to try and try and try to get through. Then be prepared to wait on hold for a while. It will be worth it though to get all of your questions and concerns addressed.
