I have a question, do you have any idea when the berkeley ug scholarship will pay?
it seems like other FA has been awarded but i am still waiting on that
any idea it will be before 15th?
i called them and the person i called wasnt so sure about the paymment

No, I don’t have any idea about that either. I asked the same question and was told it would pay out “soon.” My son is waiting on that as well as an outside scholarship that they coded incorrectly (whatever the heck that means). I don’t know if it will pay out before the 15th, but I think it will pay out before the start of the semester. Are you waiting for refund money?

I am not sure… I still have some balance due looking at the quick statement (about 1300 due few days, and much more until the end of the semester)

One more thing, does your son get cal grant as well? When I called them, they said i wasnt eligible for it and thats why i am getting the berkeley ug scholarship…

so then, does this mean I need to pay 1300 dollars on 15th and wait until they pay out the money? I am not even sure if i have that money ready in few days …:(

I’m a little confused (have patience with us moms.) When you look at your quick statement, does it have a minimum amount due or does it say zero? If it says zero, you don’t have to do anything by the 15th. If it has a minimum amount due, you need to pay that by the 15th.

As for the Cal Grant, my son does have a Cal Grant (Cal Grant A). Originally his Berkeley Scholarship was for $15,476. When his Cal Grant was confirmed, it went down the amount of the grant and is now $5,174. Cal uses the Cal Grant and the Undergraduate Scholarship together to meet your need. Although merit is considered in the scholarhsip, so I’m not really sure how that figures in. Did you apply for the Cal Grant?

So bottom line, did your financial aid cover the minimum due as shown on your quick statement. If so, you are fine. Does your financial aid cover all of your bill?? If so, you don’t ever have to do anything. It will pay out. Does that make sense??

No problem
yes, the amount due on 15th is 1300 dollars
it seems all the loans and other scholarships have been paid
except for the berkeley ug scholarship

and regarding the cal grant…
I checked my webgrant for cal grant status and
and on theirr (cal grant)'s record my current school is still listed as UCLA
and it seems like i cant change my current school as they are waiting for some form
i think its called Entitlement Transfer record is on-hold awaiting the return of the (G6) Certification form

I called cal grant few days ago and got the answer they are still reviewing (no definite answer) but berkeley FA office says I am already not eligible for cal grant…

Yeah so this is my situation
but it seems like it is possib4le to get both cal grant and berkeley ug scholarship

I think i will be calling the offices tomorrow as cal grant’s telephone line blocks me due to high volume of calls.

Okay, I see. Yes you can get both the Cal Grant and the Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship but the combined total of both would not exceed your need. That is a bummer about the Cal Grant. You were awarded one but had the wrong school??? I’m sorry about that…

Let me know how this all turns out and I will post when my son’s scholarship pays out. Keep trying to call. I found I had the best luck first thing (the office opens at 10:00). I got through and then had to hold for quite a while. Good luck!

Financial aid still did not seem to pay for my tuition yet. I was told to complete DL Sub/Unsub Entrance Interview and the Direct Loan Promissory Note; however, I do not think it relates to the financial aid Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship that was shown to me. What should I do?

I don’t thing the Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship has paid out for many, if any, students. It hasn’t paid out for son yet either. There is nothing you can do about that one. You just have to wait until the financial aid funds the scholarship. You can call to see when they will be doing that, but when I called, the answer I got was that the scholarship would be funding “soon.” Oh, do you have a Perkins loan? If so, there is a different loan entrance counseling that needs to be done for this loan. Just an FYI.

Ahh I’m freaking out a little because my cal grant says " estimated" and has been like that since forever… I did everything on time and I think the reason it’s like that is because I’m in FPF, but does anyone else have this problem? It seems like almost everyone’s cal grant has paid and they’re waiting for the UG scholarship, but I’m waiting on both…

Hey I have question…
I was wondering if anyone had similar problem…

When I lookedat the myfinaid few days ago, all my scholar ship (including berkeley ug scholarship) was paid, so my quickstatement balance was about 350 dollars

but I looked today, now I owe about 7000 dollars and at award payment status, no scholarship has been paid…

I am berk now so i can go to fin aid office but anyone else had the similar problems? or any advices?

PS: in my Student CARS Awards Summary @ bearfacts
it shows that all my FA is paid out
… I am really confused (i just deleted the amount)
would i be fine if i wait?

Actually, you all do know what is going on.

Its all f**** up. They keep changing it around.

What you actually need to know is ‘will it get fixed without you having to do some emergency intervention?’, and ‘will it get fixed in time to buy books, pay rent, eat, etc?’

That nobody knows for sure, but judging from prior years, it will be chaotic and frustrating but for almost everyone it ended up okay. Maybe some who went through similar frustrations in past years can share their stories, particularly whether it worked out okay by itself and whether it was resolved ‘in time’? I don’t have any great stories to relay, but I remember reading a lot of chatter about finaid mysteries and confusion the last few summers.
