When will I get my admissions decision back?

Hmph, I wonder why the woman I talked to on the phone didn’t mention that the application fee was supposed to be waived on the golden gopher application…I asked if it was worth doing the GG app (since I had already started the regular app) and she said that they were the same application so I should just continue with the one I started. I definitely remember it saying I still had to pay a fee when I logged onto my GG app. Oh well, nothing I can do about that now! (I’m looking at the GG app that they snail mailed me with login info and it mentions no essay and everything but there is nothing about a fee waiver, which you think would be mentioned. Perhaps it’s only for OOS? Or mine just got messed up?)

I’m assuming I’ll hear back around the same time. I have a 29 ACT (27.6 is average), a 1880 SAT (including writing, 1897 is average), and a GPA of 3.75. My school doesn’t rank so I can’t compare with that. I’ve taken multiple AP classes and have 30+ college credits due to dual enrollment so I’m hoping that those and my numerous ECs help me to get accepted. UMN is my #1 and I know being OOS is a definite disadvantage.

@hville7,
My D received multiple e-mail from UofM since Aug 13 regarding the Golden Gopher Application. Almost every e-mail mentioned the $55 application fee to be waived. I am not sure if it is only for oos. But it makes sense as in state students are likely to apply anyway.

@younglion4 - Yours looks fine, you should get in CLA easily. Well let’s just wait and pray then.

Just to clear up for some people wondering, the Golden Gopher application only waives the fee for OOS applicants. I am in state and applied in mid august before I got my Golden Gopher application and was curious if I had lost out on $55 just because I wanted to apply early. I called admissions and the guy said the fee is only waived for OOS students. Also plenty of my friends applied using the GGA and they had to pay the fee as well.

hville7: My child had to pay the fee using the GG fast app even though I was certain earlier marketing materials said there would not be a fee when DC submitted the application. It was a bummer. Oh well…

I don’t understand why Minnesota wouldn’t waive the application fee for instate students using the Golden Gopher application. That seems odd to me. I would think they would want their qualified instate applicants to apply just as much as they want OOS students to apply. I wonder what their reasoning is?

LadyHam - i think the U already gets tons of qualified in state kids and maybe they are looking out of state for a new gene pool! :stuck_out_tongue:

My S started in 2011 and at that time the out of state kids seemed to learn of admissions and scholarships a 1-2 months prior to in state.

I think Minnesota is like other flagship public school that they don’t worry about in state students not applying.
