<p>Son e-mailed app. the other day; they've got all the other stuff (scores, transcript) -- when is the earliest you think he'll hear? Website says @1/31 but any chance for a sooner decision?</p>

<p>He emailed his application?! If they have everything and he has good stats, I'd estimate around mid October. Unless he's borderline or applying to SHC or other stuff, he should hear way before 1/31.</p>
<p>Yes, he submitted the on-line app. the other day -- you sound surprised? Why? They have his app., the $, SAT scores, and are just waiting to receive the transcript form from the guid. counselor (won't be back to school 'til next week).</p>
<p>What you said about him possibly hearing in October is encouraging! Do you speak from your own experience? He applied to Smeal -- I know it's a tough school to get into but he's hoping -- has a 700M/610CR and 4 or 5 ec's, etc. His Writing score was low (540) but as this is the first year they're looking at it, we're hoping they don't give it equal weight!</p>
<p>We went out there to visit during April vacation and thought it was a gorgeous campus -- in the middle of nowhere, but gorgeous! Seems to have something to offer everyone -- how do you like it out there?</p>
<p>From my experience, I heard back in two weeks after they received all my stuff. I had everything sent by November 1, and I heard back on November 14.</p>

<p>If you are a strong candidate it's quite possible you'll have a regular acceptance even before the SHC deadline. The SHC letters go out sometime after the first of the year (maybe February?).</p>
<p>My daughter applied to PSU the first week in September and received her acceptance by the end of October. I heard last year it was later, by early November. It is best to get any state school applications out early.</p>
