If they send out acceptance in February, or sooner, do you still have until May to accept, so you can compare financial aid packages? That’s great they send notice so early though!

^ yes, the deadline for confirming enrollment is still May 1, 2014.

I applied in Early September using the Golden Gopher Application. Does using the GGA make my waiting time different from using the regular application? I have a 3.65 (UW) and 30 ACT. I applied to CSE, because I want to do Aerospace Engineering. (Not sure if scores or which college I applied for, extend the time it takes for me to get a reply) Thanks :)

My son also applied using the Golden Gopher Application. His stats are a bit higher, 35 ACT and 4.0 (UW). I am starting to wonder if using the Golden Gopher App might have hurt his scholarship chances, but I think I might just be over anxious. He also applied to Pitt, another stats driven school but submitted some recommendations there. He’s received a couple more honors since he hit submit and I keep wondering if he should email or call to update. He’s quite content to just wait, so we wait.

I don’t think the Golden Gopher Applucation would have any negative impact on scholarship. My D has the same GPA and ACT score ad your son. She got pretty a nice merit scholarship package.

My application tracker switched to the “carefully considering your application” today. Hopefully I find out soon!

Application was complete Sept 28th
CSE
31 ACT
3.89 UW GPA
In state

Where does it show “carefully considering your application” on the application tracker?
Thanks =)
My application was completed September 19th.
CSE
30 ACT
3.65 UW GPA
In State

Should be in a box near the top of the tracking page.

Do you know what the average wait time for an acceptance? I applied as an international 4 weeks ago, do you think my decision is almost finished?

I just received my acceptance to CSE today, but I don’t see anything about my major. Do they make those decisions later?

Sky360 - Congratulations. You will meet with your advisor next summer and select courses with your intended major in mind. You will officially apply for admission to your major after you have satisfied their listing of requirements/GPA. This link should help: [Applying for a major form : College of Science & Engineering : University of Minnesota, Twin Cities](http://cse.umn.edu/services/advising/CSE_CONTENT_188758.php)

I just got accepted into CSE today (!!!) through the app tracker.
28 ACT, 3.2 UW GPA. My LoRs (one from a robotics mentor and one from a computer science teacher) and Essay probably helped a lot though.

Also, I applied in August.

I don’t understand… is there an essay??? My S never saw one??

^^^^
There is no essay. There are a few boxes where you can enter supplemental information that does not fit elsewhere on the application, but there is no essay and it is not required that you fill out those supplemental boxes. Also, there are no letters of recommendation required. My daughter applied last year and is attending this year. She didn’t write an essay (although she did fill out the supplemental boxes to include include additional information about herself), and she did not have any teachers or adult mentors write her letters of recommendation. Minnesota does not require them, and if they are sent, they are probably not even considered when reviewing the application.

I applied September 7th. The tracker says they’ve received all of my material but says those who submit by the priority deadline will receive a decision by the end of February. I’m very confused.

LOR is also not needed. So I wonder if 345612335 has mixed up with another application he submitted.

Sorry, they both are not required, but if you or your s/d had stats similar to mine, you would know that just the GPA and ACT score alone would not admit me into CSE.

Sorry if I worried anyone!!!

Should I feel worried if I applied in Early-Mid September for CSE, and haven’t heard anything since?

^ How is your credential compared with the freshmen profile or admission stat? I think they are only accepting their top picks for now as it is not even the deadline for priority application yet.
