When will the RD decisions come out?

Wow mom111399, lay off!
The college admissions process is tough for everyone, so calm down!
I’m sure your daughter will do fine at one of the other 10 schools she applied to, and I find it especially appalling that you made an CC account specifically to lay into the Admissions Staff.
Good Grief!!!

Thank you! Fingers crossed for no glitches!!

Sending warm thoughts to all of you!

Just remember - no matter what this decision is, you will love the school you attend next year!

Blessings to you!

Also, thanks to W&M Admission - we really do appreaciate you and all that you do on here!

halloimzack, we don’t think mom1113 was giving us grief. She was simply stating that she would wait up for all the emails to be sent. We certainly took no offense. We know families are nervous and likely trying to express that nervousness.

lepage, there are numerous permutations of decisions. Without going into unnecessary detail it’s not as simple as deny, waitlist, admit. Additionally, some email servers are slower than other so regardless of whatever order emails go out in, they may not be received in corresponding order/times by students and we don’t want students to cling to false hope based on a perceived order or expected email received time. We are working to get all of them out in the most efficient and accurate manner possible.

We appreciate everyone’s patience

Thanks2011VAMom. We realize that when decisions are released more people will be displeased with us then pleased with us (and that’s fine; that’s part of our job) but we appreciate good vibes sent our way :)

ahhh thanks!! i’ll be here refreshing my email 'til i get it! hahaha

lepage, dont’ stress yourself out by staring at your in-box. As mentioned, this process could take several hours. That’s simply beyond our control. We promise to make a post when all decisions are sent assuming that occurs by a reasonable hour.

Prayers to all for best possible outcomes…wow, this is very dramatic! Speaking of drama, I’m also thinking of Mom4Life’s daughter, making her debut as Fantine in a few days. Best wishes!

We know you could have called it a day and waited until tomorrow morning to start the email process. I appreciate you putting in a late night to let the kids know this evening! We will patiently wait for whatever decision comes our way :)

So all results will be coming out tonight? Just they will be staggered?

It is slightly frustrating that many other schools have a system of a one time, automated release for decisions and W&M doesn’t. Now, I’m patiently waiting for some good news after a rough day.

Girlfriend was waitlisted. Strange because she got a likely letter from UVa (got into UVa too). I wonder how admissions goes sometimes…

Ulcerita, you are very sweet to remember our DD and her not-so-darling dilemma. It is probably best we hear tonight… She is coming home from a marathon “Les Mis” rehearsal as I type this. Best wishes to all potential Tribe members!

has ANYONE heard of an acceptance yet? I just got an email and am scared to check because they’ve all been waitlists and rejections haha

I am so sorry that this happened to your daughter. The process is a mess, fueled by panic, and profit. Our son applied to our alma mater (top LA college, double-legacy, very active alums) and was waitlisted, in spite of his GPA and SATs being at the TOP of the range, as well as leadership, arts and extracurriculars off the charts. We were told that his mistake was not showing his total devotion by applying ED. Devastating. We are hearing that top (harvard++)kids are being told to apply to a minimum of 25 schools. Messes up the whole thing for everyone!!!

Cut that MOM some slack. This year is the worst ever.

To the admissions staff,

When that one poster was criticizing the mom, he was criticizing mom111399, not mom1113. Its kinda funny that they have such similar usernames. Not that it was especially justified in either case, I just wanted to point out that he wasn’t being overly malicious to a nice lady. Oh, the drama of decision time!

Yes, all results will be released tonight assuming no glitches arise during the process but yes they are staggered. That is not by choice but a matter of working with the technology we currently possess.

We are sorry that we cannot release all decisions simultaneously. We currently do not have the software that allows for that but we are working overtime (both in the office and on CC) to keep applicants informed and up to date.

in2015 and plue00, we know that decisions can oftentimes not make sense, especially when you are on the outside looking in. There will be a series of Admit It! blogs posted tomorrow that attempt to provide more context to the types of decisions we made. While W&M and UVA are similar institutions in terms of selectivity, we absolutely do make different decisions for a variety of reasons (size of incoming class, institutional enrollment objectives, etc). We hope our blogs can shed some light on this process for everyone.

Mom4Life, we too were thinking of your daughter and her rehearsal. Regardless of the decision she receives, in the infinite words of the Les Mis company, tomorrow comes!

stevek, thanks for pointing that out. In an attempt to try to keep up we missed mom111399’s post.

mom111399, we do apologize that our technology does not allow us to release decisions with the press of a button. We truly wish that were possible but it is not at that time. We hope applicants do not see our method as cruel. This year we are emailing decisions for the first time instead of making students wait for a mailed letter which of course is also a staggered notification system and a much longer one at that.

As already posted, our hearts to go out to all of our applicants including the ones we are unable to offer admission to. The amazing quality of our pool means that many tremendous applicants are not admitted; not because they do anything wrong but because our pool is so incredibly strong. We do hope the Admit It! Blogs tomorrow will shed more light on this process.

The only indication of interest we have is that a student applies. We certainly hope the student to which you’re referring does in fact consider W&M but if she doesn’t, we understand. Having students reject us is part of the process.

I so appreciate that there is a forum where we can receive answers about admissions, it is indeed a very stressful time, and waiting has been excrutiating over the past few months. As for decisions being mailed out tonight, I know you do not know when the admissions will be done, but let’s just say if we were going to stay up and wait for the e-mail, would it be worth our while or should we sleep on our nerves? It may be a silly question, but I would love to know whether I should expect to sit by my email until midnight or not  Thank you for your responses, it really is helpful to have someone “on the inside” to comfort our nerves a bit!
